Hardware Testing Standards
Behind every score and verdict is a battery of rigorous, reproducible scientific stress tests performed in our controlled testing lab.
Display Colorimetry & Brightness
We evaluate screens using professional hardware colorimeters and spectrophotometers (X-Rite / SpyderX / Calman) measuring:
sRGB, DCI-P3, and AdobeRGB percentage volume.
Color deviation threshold across 48 color patches.
SDR/HDR nits, backlight uniformity, and flicker frequency.
Standardized Battery Life Loops
Manufacturer battery claims are frequently exaggerated. We run standardized endurance scripts to reflect genuine consumer usage:
Display locked at exactly 150 nits cycling 20 active web pages every 30s over Wi-Fi 6 until shutdown.
Continuous 4K HEVC/AV1 local video loop at 50% volume with Bluetooth & location disabled.
Thermal Dissipation & Sustained Wattage
Single-run benchmarks don't reveal how a laptop performs after hours of intensive rendering or gaming. We track sustained power limits:
Measures CPU PL1/PL2 degradation and thermal throttling percentage.
Chassis surface temperature mapping for WASD keys, palmrest, and bottom vents.
Noise floor measurements recorded at 30cm user ear-distance.
