Editorial Policy & Code of Ethics
Our mission is to provide transparent, impartial, and data-backed evaluations for computing hardware. Here is how we guarantee our editorial independence.
1. Editorial Independence
TypeLaptop operates with complete editorial autonomy. Our reviews, ratings, and verdicts are never influenced, previewed, or approved by manufacturers, PR agencies, or retail advertisers before publication.
- We do not accept paid positive reviews or sponsored verdicts.
- Editorial staff are completely separated from commercial ad operations.
- Advertisers have zero influence over article scheduling, editorial scoring, or buying guide recommendations.
2. Review Units & Hardware Samples
We receive evaluation units on loan from manufacturers and distributors under standard non-disclosure or embargo agreements.
- Review units are returned to the manufacturer after our standardized testing cycle concludes.
- In cases where we purchase retail units off the shelf with our own budget, we explicitly disclose the retail origin.
- Accepting an evaluation unit does not guarantee a positive review or favorable benchmark results.
3. Empirical Benchmark Methodology
All hardware performance data published by TypeLaptop is captured through standardized, reproducible laboratory procedures.
- Every device is tested in a controlled 24°C climate environment.
- Display measurements utilize hardware colorimeters (SpyderX / Calman) for delta-E and gamut verification.
- Gaming benchmarks always document driver versions, ambient temps, and 1% Low frame time metrics.
4. Corrections & Errata Policy
Accuracy is fundamental to our readership. When factual errors, typo bugs, or outdated firmware discrepancies occur:
- We update the article promptly with a transparent correction notice.
- Significant score or benchmark updates resulting from major BIOS/driver fixes will include an updated timestamp.
- Readers can submit correction suggestions via our Contact Form.
